Rakhee

Rakhee is a yoga and qigong teacher, writer, creative leader and innovator. Yoga has always been a part of Rakhee’s life; one of her earliest memories is of watching her grandmother lighting ghee-soaked wicks to greet the rising sun, a ritual that she continues to this day, though she now salutes the sun as it rises over the sea in Dorset. Her yoga & qigong classes reflect her experience and she is inspired by nature, community, culture, philosophy, myth and the world around us. She combines dynamic breath-led yoga, qigong and meditation with restorative calm; in sequences that help her students to discover their own creative expression and awaken their spirit.

She works collaboratively with a range of partners to deliver yoga and qigong to a wide section of the community. Rakhee likes to raise funding to offer her classes to those that need it most so it is inclusive, accessible and affordable. She believes that wellbeing and movement practices should be for everybody and every body. She has delivered chair based qigong, yoga and meditation in care homes and has partnered up to offer Qigong in outdoor spaces with a mental health and wellbeing focus. She is on the faculty of Yoga on the Lane’s children’s yoga teacher training. She teaches on demand classes for the UK’s leading online yoga website Movement for Modern Life (MFML) for which she has also written a number of blog posts. Prior to teaching yoga and qigong, Rakhee co-founded and co-directed an arts and education charity for 25 years in east London aimed at supporting young people in formal and informal education settings.
